Contemporary Novels

Being a huge fan of Julie’s historical novels I wasn’t so sure what to expect from her contemporary ones.  I’ve never really thought authors who write one type, and then jump to another, could do it.  I always felt like they were forcing their ‘voice’ to flow into a genre they weren’t meant for…but in this case, I was wrong.  While they aren’t as strongly adored by me as her historicals (gosh, let’s just face it, a man that’s strong, powerful, and in a kilt…who could beat that?) I enjoy and have followed her contemporary series with a great interest.  I’m not sure if she meant it or not, but since she used the Bucannon name  in her contemporary novels I tend to relate them to the wonderful Bucannon warriors she built up in her historical.  It’s been of great interest to me to see how the strong men she writes in today’s world relate to those in her books of days past.  That and her superb writing are why I recommend you read her contemporary novels.
